Assistant county librarian Lorraine Lynch with Carrie Crowley discussing the upcoming show, Buildings Beo.

Two Cork locations are to feature on Buildings Beo, a property show about the renovation of heritage buildings all around the country and the people and communities that bring them to life.

In this six-part series, presenter Carrie Crowley takes a closer look at six projects across Ireland, where derelict architectural legacies are being preserved and transformed into vital community spaces.

Some of the restorations include the redevelopment of a fire-ravaged cinema into a state-of-the-art local theatre in Cork’s market town of Macroom.

Throughout the series, Ms Crowley meets with the builders, architects, and communities driving these restoration projects, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the transformation process.

The show, produced by New Departures Media, celebrates Ireland’s rich cultural and architectural heritage, demonstrating how it takes a village to make a Building Beo.

Episode four centres on The Old Mill/James O’Neill Building in Kinsale, and will be shown on TG4 on Wednesday, December 10, at 8.30pm.

The episode sees Ms Crowley delve into the transformation of a disused Old Mill building into a vibrant community space and library.

This historic building presents significant challenges for the team, due to its protected status and its location within an architectural protection zone.

The final episode focuses on the Briery Gap Theatre and Cultural Centre in Macroom and will be on TG4 on Wednesday, December 24, at 8.30pm, featuring the beloved theatre and cultural hub left derelict since a devastating fire.

Ms Crowley uncovers the void left by the Briery Gap, and the eagerness to see it restored to its former glory.
