Two men in their twenties have been arrested in Cork after a knife was seized by gardaí in Douglas this weekend.

Gardaí were called to Broadale in Douglas shortly before 11pm on Saturday following reports of a man in possession of a knife. Two men were arrested, and one has since been charged and is due before the courts while the other has been released.

A garda spokesperson told The Echo: “Gardaí received a report of a male in possession of an offensive weapon in the Broadale area of Douglas, Cork shortly before 11:00pm on Saturday, 25th October 2025.

“Gardaí attended the scene and patrolled the area.

“Two males, in their 20s, were subsequently arrested under public order legislation and a knife was seized by Gardaí. Both males were detained at a Garda station in Cork city under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.” 

The spokesperson added: “One of the men has since been charged and is due to appear before Cork District Court at a later date. The other man was released to be dealt with under the Adult Caution scheme.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
