Man arrested after more than €100k of cannabis herb seized in Cork and Waterford

Gardaí from the Cork City Drug Unit and Waterford County Drug Unit conducted a number of searches yesterday.
More than €100,000 worth of cannabis has been seized from a vehicle and residences in Cork and Waterford.
As part of ongoing investigations targeting an organised crime group operating in the Southern and Eastern regions gardaí from the Cork City Drug Unit and Waterford County Drug Unit conducted a number of searches yesterday.
A vehicle and two residences across Cork and Waterford were searched as part of the investigation, resulting in the seizure of €114,200 worth of suspected cannabis herb.
A man in his 50s was subsequently arrested and was taken to a garda station in Cork city.
He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
The drugs seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
A garda spokesperson investigations are ongoing.
