The 13th West Cork Feel Good Festival, which runs during October, includes song, story, art, film, and laughing yoga.

HSE South West, in collaboration with 49 North Street in Skibbereen and local community organisations, is inviting people in Cork and Kerry to take part in the 13th West Cork Feel Good Festival.

Commencing on Wednesday, October 1, and running throughout the month, the programme is designed in response to input and feedback from locals and aims to support mental health and wellbeing by tackling issues such as loneliness, isolation, and stigma.

The annual festival this year spans communities from Bantry to Sherkin, Eyeries to Clonakilty, Castletownbere to Leap, and into Kerry, with events also in Lauragh and Tuosist on the Beara peninsula.

Among the festival highlights is a Behind the Curtain drama weekend in Skibbereen, a community gathering in Dunmanway, and concerts featuring Nóirín Ní Riain and John Spillane.

The festival will also includes laughing yoga and comedy with Shane Clifford, film screenings, art exhibitions, and neuroinclusive events.

The Irish language programme Fite Fuaite returns, as does Together in Song celebrating community choirs across the region.

TOMMY TIERNAN

A special storytelling evening will feature Tommy Tiernan and Martin Shaw.

Walks, talks, and peer-led programmes will take place at venues including wellness hub 49 North Street and Bantry Community Cafe.

HSE South West head of mental health services Declan Cronin said: “This festival is a powerful example of what can be achieved when communities come together. By blending joy, creativity, and open conversation, we’re breaking down stigma and building stronger local supports for mental health.”

Festival founder and mental health specialist Kevin O’Shanahan said: “Mental health is everyone’s business. The West Cork Feel Good Festival is only possible thanks to the support of volunteers, funders, and community partners. Together, we’re creating welcoming spaces that promote connection and celebrate community spirit.”

The West Cork Feel Good Festival is co-ordinated by 49 North Street, HSE South West, and community partners.
