'Most' Cork city traffic lights now working following earlier disruption

Cork City Council has said most of the city’s traffic lights are now functioning again
Cork City Council has said most of the city’s traffic lights are now functioning again, following an outage which left busy junctions across the city without lights during some of the day's heaviest traffic.
For a period during Monday rush hour, lights were out of order across much of the city, causing widespread traffic disruption.
A spokesperson said the council had yet to ascertain the cause of the issue, but a network outage was suspected to have caused the widespread fault.
“Crews have been working through [the lights] to get them back up and running as fast as possible, prioritising major intersections like Cork University Hospital and then moving on to the smaller ones,” they said.
“Some lights can be put back online remotely via the control room, but traffic crews have been deployed across the city to manually fix the ones that can’t be done remotely.
Most of the city’s traffic lights are back up and running now, the spokesperson said, but motorists are asked to proceed with caution in the interim.
