Two Cork book-podcaster have partnered with the online news platform IrishCentral for a celebration of Irish and international storytelling.

IrishCentral has announced a partnership with ‘Natter with Kate and Michelle’ as part of their new campaign to highlight some of today’s most captivating authors.

This new partnership aims to bring the voices of Blarney writers Kate Durant and Michelle McDonagh to IrishCentral’s 39 million Irish-American readers and book lovers.

The podcast, which last year charted at number two in the Apple Irish book podcast chart, will be launching it’s fourth season in September, kicking off with an appearance from the global bestselling author Heather Morris, who will be chatting about her new book The Wish.

This will be followed by a fortnightly release of interviews with thought-provoking authors of new fiction and non-fiction books including Sophie White, Dr Harry Barry, and former State pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.

The podcast, produced in association with Bookstation, Ireland’s fastest growing bookseller, has already featured a range of noteworthy guests including Jeanine Cummins, Lynda La Plante, Christine Dwyer Hickey, Edel Coffey, Andrea Mara, Roisin Meaney, and Anne Tiernan.

“Ireland is a nation of storytellers, and Natter is all about telling some of these stories,” said Ms Durant.

“We all have our own stories, told and untold, and we all love to hear other peoples’ too.

“Roisin Meaney’s unresolved grief over the death of her brother, Jeanine Cummins on the traumatic impact of the ‘American Dirt’ controversy and Siobhan MacGowan on the loss of her brother Shane, are just three of the deeply poignant stories that our guests have been generous enough to share with us.”

Ms McDonagh said that more people than ever are listening to podcasts, more people than ever are buying books, and more people than ever are looking for escapism.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with IrishCentral, a platform with such a large and deeply engaged Irish diaspora, and we are looking forward to sharing the fabulous stories that our guests share with us to this audience,” she said.

All 16 episodes of ‘Natter with Kate and Michelle’ to date are available on Spotify, Apple or wherever people get their podcasts.
