Culture Night 2025 will take place on Friday, September 19, with a number of events being held across Cork city and county.

This is the 20th edition of this all-island celebration, powered by the Arts Council and local authorities, with funding from the Department of Culture, Communications, and Sport. Culture Night offers people of all ages and backgrounds to discover new experiences, and also to embrace creativity.

Among the events taking place in Cork city will be ‘Kaught at the Karpark’, celebrating the late ‘70s and early ‘80s punk and post-punk scene in the city. The event will feature original members of bands like Nun Attax, Microdisney, and Stump.

In Youghal, there will be a performance from the Youghal Choral Society. In West Cork, there will be an evening of traditional Irish music, song, and dance, with Comhaltas Clonakilty.

ARTIST TRAIL

In Cobh, there will be an artist trail featuring a series of artworks displayed in the windows of businesses throughout the town. Meanwhile in Rathcormac, people are invited to come and experience the flavours and rich traditions of Mexico at Viva Mexico Products.

Culture minister Patrick O’Donovan said Culture Night holds a unique and significant place in Ireland’s annual calendar, “bringing joy and discovery to towns, villages, and cities across the country”.

“It’s a vibrant celebration and showcase of the rich cultural life that is woven into our local communities,” he said. “My department is proud to support 20 years of Culture Night, a programme that offers such diverse experiences, completely free of charge. I hope everyone takes the opportunity to step out and enjoy the incredible energy of the night.”

Maura McGrath, chairperson of the Arts Council, said they are pleased to continue partnering with local authorities “as we celebrate 20 years of Culture Night”.

“The event has grown considerably going from strength to strength over the past two decades, and has enjoyed diverse and inclusive participation,” she said.
