Cork café and pantry brand Bakestone is partnering with Opera Lane to present a ‘Food and Fashion’ brunch as part of this year’s Cork on a Fork Festival, from August 13–17.

On Sunday, August 17, from 11am to 2pm, at Bakestone’s new Perry St café in the city centre, the event will be a celebration of Cork’s food and fashion.

Sponsored by Opera Lane, this marks the third consecutive year of the retail destination’s support for Cork City Council’s Cork on a Fork Festival.

Guests will be greeted with a Kinsale Gin welcome drink, before enjoying a two-course brunch crafted from seasonal, locally sourced ingredients by the Bakestone kitchen team. Co-founder Joe Carey will share the stories behind the menu and the local producers who inspired it.

Fashion showcase

There will then be a live fashion showcase led by Opera Lane’s personal stylist, Breeda O’Connell.

Featuring the latest autumn looks from a mix of Opera Lane retailers, Breeda will be joined by style influencer Helen Murphy (Daily Diva Diary) for a chat about upcoming trends and tips for transitioning a wardrobe from summer to autumn/winter.

This event also marks the celebration of Bakestone’s exciting expansion into Cork city, and guests can expect spot prizes, giveaways, and drinks from Five Farms Irish Cream Liqueur. Tickets are €55 each or €50 per person for groups of eight to 10.

Founded in 2013 by Joe and Maura Carey, in Carrigtwohill, Bakestone opened a new location on Perry St this summer.

A daily brunch menu runs until 2pm on weekdays and until 3pm on weekends.

The ‘Food and Fashion’ brunch is just one of many highlights of this year’s Cork on a Fork Festival, a five-day, city-wide celebration of Cork’s food culture, featuring street feasts, tastings, demos, and family-friendly events.
