Former reality TV host Laura Whitmore is set to take centre stage The Everyman in Cork this August in a theatre adaptation of The Girl on the Train.

The production, which is adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel, from Paula Hawkins’s acclaimed novel, will take place from August 19 to August 23.

Directed by Loveday Ingram and produced by Melting Pot and Josh Andrews Productions, Ms Whitmore will perform the lead role of Rachel Watson.

She will be joined by cast members Daniel Burke, playing Kamal Abdic; Zena Carswell as Anna; Samuel Collings playing Scott Hipwell; Freya Parks playing Megan Hipwell; Paul McEwan playing DI Gaskill; Edward Harrison as Tom Watson, with under-studies Ellie Gallimore and Oliver Brooke.

Having made her stage debut in 2:22 A Ghost Story in London’s West End in 2022, Whitmore, who is from Dublin, is  well known for presenting Love Island on ITV2.

The Girl on the Train, which has sold more than 20m copies, tells the story of a woman who longs for a different life, that spends her time on her daily commute fantasising about a couple that she sees from the window each day.

Whitmore said that she was “obsessed” with the novel, having read it when it was released in 2015.

“I read the book when it first came out and I was obsessed by it,” she said.

“I love it when you find a book and all you can think about is that story.

“I am excited to show people my portrayal of Rachel this summer.”

Tickets for the show are available from www.everymancork.com or by phoning 021 4501 673.
