Man arrested after cannabis worth €2.1 million seized in Cork

A man in his 50s was arrested and is being detained at a southern region Garda station.
A man has been arrested after cannabis worth an estimated €2.1 million was seized in the port of Cork.
Revenue officers seized 107kgs of herbal cannabis at the port on Sunday with the help of detector dog Rua.
The drugs were found in a trailer which had originated in Croatia and had disembarked a vessel arriving from Zeebrugge in Belgium.
A man in his 50s was arrested and is being detained at a southern region Garda station.
A Garda spokesperson said:
"Gardaí and Revenue officers seized approximately 107kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €2.1 million in the Port of Cork today, 28th July 2025.
"A total of 93 packages were concealed in the truck, with a total weight of 107.2kg. The estimated street value of the cannabis is €2.1 million (subject to analysis). The truck had arrived from Belgium.
"The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by the Cork Divisional Drugs Unit and Revenue’s Customs Service.
"Gardaí arrested a man, aged in his 50s, who is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in the Southern Region.
"Investigations are ongoing."
