Uisce Éireann has stated that this is to allow the network to have time to return to normal before the morning demand, reducing the potential for discoloured water at customers’ taps.

Uisce Éireann’s flushing programme continues next week, from Monday, July 28, focusing on the Mayfield and Silversprings areas of Cork city.

Expected to take four nights to complete, the programme is part of a series of proactive flushing works to improve water quality for homes and businesses across the city, while it also is part of the Uisce Éireann network improvement plan to address water discolouration.

To minimise disruption to the community, the Uisce Éireann works in the Mayfield and Silversprings areas will be carried out at night during off-peak usage hours, typically starting after 10pm and finishing in the early hours of the morning.

Uisce Éireann has stated that this is to allow the network to have time to return to normal before the morning demand, reducing the potential for discoloured water at customers’ taps.

Water operations lead for Uisce Éireann, James Goulding, said:

“We are moving back to Mayfield and Silversprings to complete our proactive flushing programme in this area.

“These works remain a top priority for Uisce Éireann and are an integral part of the improvement works under way to address reports of discolouration.

“We would like to thank our customers for their continued patience, while our crews work through the programme plan.”

The areas included in this round of works include: Lotamore Lawn, Lotamore Avenue, Lotamore Drive, Lotamore Grove, Lotamore Park, Liosard, Dunard, Newton Ave, Newton Place, Newton Green, Newton Close, Silversprings Lawn, Silversprings Court, Southridge, Ashmount, Ashmount Mews, and Glenmont.
