Two significant development projects in Cork have been nominated for this year’s Irish Planning Awards.

The Irish Planning Institute announced the shortlist for the awards this week, which includes the Kennedy Quay Mixed Use Development project on Cork South Docklands and the development plan for the Goulding’s site in Cork city.

Both project plans were developed by Tom Phillips and Associates, which was also nominated for the Planning Consultancy of the Year award.

The biennial Irish Planning Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements in the planning profession, including projects and plans at a local, county, regional, and national level.

This year’s awards attracted 80 entries, which were judged by a panel of expert judges who selected the shortlist of 55 nominees across 12 categories.

Gavin Lawlor, president of the Irish Planning Institute, said that the awards provide “an excellent opportunity to acknowledge and reward the innovative work” undertaken by members across the country.

“The Irish Planning Institute is delighted to be hosting the biennial awards that celebrate creativity and quality throughout the Irish planning sector,” said Mr Lawlor.

“The awards provide an excellent opportunity to acknowledge and reward the innovative work by our members who strive every year to deliver high quality projects and sustainable developments.

“With a record 80 entries, submissions for the 2025 Planning Awards were particularly strong, with excellent examples of sustainable, innovative, and thoughtful planning right across the various categories.”

The black-tie awards ceremony will take place at Clontarf Castle Hotel in Dublin on September 25.
