A man in his 20s was arrested in Cork yesterday after he was found to be driving under the influence of an intoxicant, and a significant amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia were seized following a residential search.

While members of An Garda Síochána were conducting routine traffic checks in Carrigaline on Tuesday, a man was observed driving dangerously.

In a post shared on social media, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that once the motorist was stopped, it was found that he had been operating his vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant.

Following this discovery, the man was arrested, and a detective and members of the Carrigaline Community Policing Unit conducted further searches at a residence in Carrigaline town.

Following the search, Gardaí seized €16,000 worth of cocaine, €1,200 worth of cannabis and €6,000 in cash, as well as other items and drug paraphernalia.

All drugs that were seized as a result of the search are now subject to analysis.

Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.
