Uisce Éireann has launched a new dedicated online form for customers in Cork city to report instances of discolouration.

The new online form has been developed following direct feedback from customers and elected representatives and allows the reporting of instances on the go, with a quick five-minute survey.

Uisce Éireann has a Cork city water quality taskforce, which it says “continues to make progress to address discolouration issues that are impacting some customers in the city”.

The company noted there has been “a positive decrease in the reports of discolouration across the city”, but said: “We continue to encourage people to report instances of discolouration as, alongside our regular monitoring and testing, this provides us with real-time insights into any emerging issues and helps identify areas of focus for future works.”

Customers can find this reporting form on the Uisce Éireann website, as well as a new dedicated web page, which outlines advice for customers, ongoing works, and recent news regarding Cork city.

People can also continue to report instances of discolouration directly via the customer care team on 1800 278 278.

Brian O’Leary, Uisce Éireann’s regional operations manager said: “Public health is the top priority for Uisce Éireann and we want to assure customers that resolving this issue remains a key focus.

“While the majority of people in the city receive a consistent high quality, fully compliant water supply without any discolouration issues, we acknowledge the persistence of these issues for some customers.

“We hope our new online tool will provide a quick, simple, and accessible way for customers to report instances of discolouration and continue to target our response in the most impacted areas.”

A series of prioritised measures have been implemented by the water quality taskforce to minimise instances of discolouration.

These measures include planned and targeted flushing of the pipe network, ongoing investment in the Lee Rd water treatment plant and the city’s water network, and an increased sampling and testing programme.
