Gardaí have launched an investigation after the decapitated body of a fox was found hanging from overhead electrical wires in Co Cork on Sunday evening.

The discovery was made around 6.30pm near Guiney’s Bridge in Rockchapel.

The animal’s headless body was seen suspended from the wires, prompting an animal cruelty probe.

In a statement, gardaí said the remains could not be immediately removed due to a lack of suitable equipment, but arrangements have since been made to take the body down.

A garda spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
