Rory Gallagher, Leeside’s favourite adoptive son, who left us three decades ago at the tragically young age of 47, is to be celebrated in his hometown as never before, with a citywide tribute to the guitar legend which kicks off on his 30th anniversary.
Saturday, June 14, will see the launch of ‘Cork Rocks for Rory’, with events all over town marking the legacy of the Lee Delta Bluesman.
A brand-new permanent walking trail, ‘Stompin Ground’, will mark out the venues where the guitar legend played and the places that shaped his life.
An exhibition of never seen before photographs will go on display at Cork City Hall, Cork Public Museum will host ‘The Continental Op’, an exhibition documenting Rory’s work as he travelled the world, and the Rory Gallagher Music Library on the Grand Parade will display a collection of Rory’s writings and his literary and musical influences including selections from his personal vinyl and book collections.
