Kinsale Arts Weekend returns next month for ninth year

High-flying fun with Kitecrew Ireland. Brian and Gina Tweedie of Kitecrew Ireland are bringing their spectacular sky show to Kinsale Arts Weekend. Kinsale Arts Weekend runs from 10-13 July with over 60 events.

Now into its ninth year, the Kinsale Arts Weekend will be taking place from 10-13 July.

The Kinsale Arts Weekend programme for this year features over 60 events consisting of music, theatre, visual art, film, talks, workshops and spectacle.

The theme of the festival this year is “The Ninth Wave”, which is inspired by Irish mythology and the untamed forces of the sea.

Kinsale Arts weekend transforms the town into a stage with spaces from cafes to streets and churches becoming venues.

Cork County Council are also providing access to the newly redeveloped town library, which has become a cultural hub for Kinsale since opening in 2023.

Lisa O’Brien, Programme Curator for Kinsale Arts weekend, aims that the festival “reflects the magic of Kinsale.”

Ms O’Brien said: “As a native of Kinsale, I’m delighted to be coming home to curate this year’s festival. Kinsale Arts Weekend has become a beacon for creativity and connection, locally rooted but open to the world.

“I’ve always believed that art should surprise, challenge and welcome in equal measure.”
