Douglas class of 1975 seeks to track down former pupils ahead of reunion

Past pupils union member Mark Hurley told The Echo they were first years in 1970 in the then Coláiste Mhuire.

The Douglas Community School Leaving Cert Class of 1975 will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Saturday, June 7, at the Rochestown Park Hotel at 7pm.

Past pupils union member Mark Hurley told The Echo they were first years in 1970 in the then Coláiste Mhuire.

“Our class was Naomh Colm, perhaps in the hope that starting us as saints would produce a few scholars. Hope springs eternal!” he said.

“It’s hard to believe that 50 years have passed so quickly, and in organising the reunion we were reminded that some of our class have, sadly, passed away. May Ger Murphy, Mick Dineen, Jerry Twomey, Danny Horgan, Leo Mahon, Gerry O’Keeffe, George Murphy, Jerry Twomey, James O’Sullivan, and Anthony Wren rest in peace.”

Mr Hurley said the organising committee expects a good turnout for the reunion, but has not been able to track all former class members.
