An organised housing protest is set to take place in Cork city next month.

The protest, entitled ‘Raise the Roof’, will see attendees assemble at the National Monument on Grand Parade on June 21 from 2pm.

Sinn Féin Cork North Central TD, Thomas Gould said that attendees’ voices are “vital” for the success of the event.

“If you’re angry about housing - we need you on the streets on June 21,” said Mr Gould.

“This is an emergency - homes are left to rot while children grow up in hotels.

“Whether this is your first protest or your 100th, your voice is vital.

“Ordinary people are suffering while vulture funds and speculators count their profits in the millions and billions - we are sick and tired of this housing emergency, it is time for action.”
