The gardaí have advised against illegal parking after catching a driver on the grass outside SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, where the annual Sciath na Scol competion was taking place this week.

Sciath na Scol is a schools-based organisation which organises Gaelic games in the primary schools of Cork city and county, with over 400 schools affiliated in the various codes.

Finals concluded yesterday, and took place at Supervalu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, where gardaí caught a driver parked on the grass.

They shared on facebook: “Sciath na Scol is taking place at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh this week.

“There is plenty of parking in the nearby Marina car park and there are regular bus services on the nearby Blackrock Road for anyone attending.

“Please observe the road markings and garda cones in place. Parking on the grass verge is also illegal and this driver will be receiving a ticket in the post.”
