A student-run coffee dock, named in honour of a much loved former caretaker at Carrigaline Community School has been opened on its campus.

‘Nigel’s’ coffee dock enshrines the memory of the late Nigel Herlihy, a hugely popular and sorely missed character, who was a familiar and welcoming face to both students and teachers for many years.

A spokesperson said the initiative is “particularly special” to the school, as it is run by some of the transition year students alongside their peers from the autism classes.

“The coffee dock provides both refreshments and valuable work experience for some of our students.
