Given that the Lord Mayor of Cork, Dan Boyle, is a Green Party councillor, the theme of this year’s Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball makes a lot of sense.

The theme for the black-tie charity event is ‘Second Time Around’ and Mr Boyle is encouraging all guests to wear pre-loved or vintage clothing, promoting sustainability and the reuse of resources.

The ball will take place at the Vienna Woods Hotel on June 6 and is this year dedicated to supporting four charities close to Mr Boyle’s heart: Shine Centre for Autism, the Alzheimer’s Association of Ireland, Cork Simon Community, and Deaf Enterprises.

Guests will enjoy a drinks reception, four-course meal, and live music, with writer and comedian Colm O’Regan as MC.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Boyle said it was one of the highlights of his year in office.

“I hope to raise as much money as possible to support these very worthwhile charities while also having fun,” he said.

Tickets are now available here, priced at €120 each.
