Just two evictions from council homes in Cork city in 2024

Only two people were evicted from council homes last year, Sinn Féin councillor Joe Lynch was told at last week’s council meeting.
He had asked the number of council dwellings vacated by way of either surrender of a tenancy or eviction.
Alison O’Rourke, director of housing services, told Mr Lynch that there were 80 surrenders of tenancy in 2023, 48 in 2024 and eight to date this year.
There were two evictions carried out in 2024 and one household surrendered their tenancy prior to eviction in 2023.
