Planning permission is being sought for the construction of a small residential development at the site of the former Distillery Bar, Blackpool.

Planning permission is being sought for the construction of a small residential development at the site of the former Distillery Bar, Blackpool.

The plans, submitted to Cork City Council this month by Unique Fitout Unlimited, are seeking permission for the redevelopment of the site to the rear of the bar on the Watercourse Road.

If permitted, works will include the demolition of a number of outbuildings for the construction of eight residential dwelling units at the site.

The proposed development will comprise of six one-bed apartment units and two two-bed townhouse units.

A Conservation Report and Heritage Impact Assessment, compiled by Design Forum Conservation and QDM Architecture, submitted alongside the planning application, said that the redevelopment of the former Distillery Bar site would have a “significant positive” impact, as the original building and street frontage will be “restored and returned to residential use.”

Cork City Council is due to make a decision on the application by April 30.
