Inquiries ongoing following discovery of body of man at Cork residence

“The Coroner has been informed and the deceased's body has since been transported to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital (CUH) for a post-mortem examination."

Inquiries are ongoing after the body of man aged in his late 70s was discovered at a residence in Mayfield in Cork city on Saturday night.

A Garda spokesperson told The Echo: “An Garda Síochána from Mayfield responded to the discovery of the body of a man in his late 70s at a residence in Mayfield, Cork at approximately 9pm on Saturday, 29th March, 2025.

“The Coroner has been informed and the deceased's body has since been transported to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital (CUH) for a post-mortem examination."

The Garda spokesperson added: “The scene is currently preserved pending the results of the postmortem and inquiries are ongoing.”
