The 2pm Heuston to Cork train was stopped on the line between Charleville and Limerick Junction for around half an hour.

The Dublin to Cork train is now running again, but is 26 minutes delayed, meaning it should arrive in Kent station at around 6pm.

Iarnród Éireann have confirmed that two sheep were killed as a result of being struck by the train.

A train from Dublin to Cork is currently held up due to an incident with sheep on the train tracks, Iarnród Éireann have said.

The 2pm Heuston to Cork train is currently stopped on the line between Charleville and Limerick Junction, and has been since 4pm.

The majority of the train route is through farmlands, and the company explained that the train struck some sheep that were on the line, and that the train crew are currently working to get the train back on the move again following the incident.

They will provide updates on the train on their X (formerly Twitter) account.
