More than 10 Cork-based projects have been announced as finalists in this year’s Irish Construction Excellence (ICE) Awards.

The awards, established in 1993, aim to recognise performance excellence in the construction industry in Ireland, highlighting innovation, quality, and dedication within the sector.

Nominees are recognised across a broad range of categories, including residential, civil engineering, commercial, industrial, healthcare and education, as well as in associated industry awards for health, safety and wellbeing, construction product, third-level course, industry contribution, and the newly-introduced future leader category, which highlights emerging talent in the industry.

Projects nominated in Cork include Little Island’s BC3.2 Johnson & Johnson innovative medicine manufacturing facility by PM Group in the industrial category; the Dunkettle Interchange project by Sisk in the civil engineering over €20m category; the Boherbue Waste Water Treatment Plant by Glanua Ltd in the BIM excellence up to €20m category; and the Douglas Rochestown Educate Together National School by BAM in the education category.

ICE awards media director Colin Walsh said: “The Irish Construction Excellence Awards continue to highlight the remarkable talent and innovation within the construction industry.

“This year’s finalists have set new benchmarks in quality and sustainability, reflecting the dynamic nature of Irish construction.

“We encourage everyone to participate in the ‘Project of the Year’ voting and join us in celebrating Ireland’s best building projects.”

Finalists were selected by an expert judging panel which featured members from various construction disciplines, including construction management, engineering, architecture, construction technology, and cost management. Voting in the ‘Project of the Year’ category will be open until March 24, with the winners announced at the ICE Awards Gala Event on May 1.
