The Blackwater Valley Opera Festival (BVOF) has announced two exciting Cork events as part of this year’s programme.

Celebrating its 15th year, the BVOF, taking place from May 27 to June 2, will feature more than 100 performances at 23 events, across 12 venues.

Events in Cork include two open air recitals, at Green Park in Youghal on May 31 from 12pm and at the Castlemartyr Resort on June 1 from 1pm. Both are free of charge, but require pre-booking in advance to secure a seat.

Other performances across Munster region include a unique double opera presentation featuring Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, performed at Lismore Castle, and Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, performed at St Carthage’s Cathedral, Lismore.

The festival will also feature two concerts at Dromore Yard, headlined by internationally renowned Irish mezzo-sopranos Paula Murrihy and Niamh O’Sullivan.
