A couple returning home from socialising in Cork city were accosted and robbed on Shandon St on January 7, and a woman was arrested yesterday and brought before Cork District Court charged with taking part in the incident.

Patricia Hogan, aged 33, was charged by Detective Garda Elaine Murphy with robbery of a man of a bag containing an iPhone 13, iPad, make-up bag, car keys, and other items worth a total of €1,475.

She was also charged with attempted robbery of a woman on the same date.

There was no objection to bail on condition she would reside at 60 Liffey Park, Mayfield, Cork; stay away from Shandon St; sign on at Mayfield Garda Station on Mondays and Fridays; provide a mobile number to gardaí; and have no contact with the injured parties.

On the application of Sergeant Gearóid Davis, the case was adjourned until May 28 at Cork District Court by Judge Mary Dorgan for directions from the DPP.

Shortly after the crime was reported in January, a man was arrested and brought before Cork District Court on the related charges.

Det Garda Murphy previously alleged that, at around midnight on January 7, a man and a woman were walking down Shandon St when they were accosted by a man and two women.

High-quality CCTV was harvested and a man was observed punching the injured man a number of times in the head, and later going through a bag that was taken.
