The deadline for claiming prizes won on Christmas scratch cards is set to expire in early April. 

Two Cork lottery players were celebrating this week after scooping cash prizes. 

One woman travelled to the capital to collect a cheque for €31,678 after matching five numbers and the bonus in the Wednesday, February 5 main lottery draw. She purchased the winning ticket from Coleman’s Store, Minor Row, Millstreet.

She said: "I am so glad to have finally made it to lottery HQ. As you can imagine, I’ve been keeping a safe eye on my ticket all this time – constantly thinking of all the scenarios as to how it could go missing!

"I am delighted with the win and I’m looking forward to doing some home improvements!” 

Another Cork winner claimed €50,000 in the all-new Crossword 'Mystery Multiplier' scratch card that launched last month, after purchasing her winning scratch card from Doney’s Spar, Main Street, Castletownroche.

Meanwhile, the National Lottery has put out a call to people who purchased or were gifted scratch cards during the festive period to check their cards, with the deadline for any winners to claim prizes fast approaching. 

They said anyone in possession of the ‘Hampers & Cash’, ‘Countdown to Christmas’ and ‘Merry Money’, Christmas scratch cards, could be sitting on prizes.

Players have 90 days from the game end-date to claim their prize, The claim deadline set for close of business on Thursday, April 3

Players are also reminded that there is a Christmas Bonus Draw worth €5,000 still up for grabs. They can enter by scanning the QR code on the scratch card or by manually entering the access code on christmasbonus.lottery.ie.

Any entries received after 10am on January 3 will be added to the final draw, which will take place at 10am on Friday, April 4. 

National Lottery spokesperson, Darragh O’Dwyer, said: “Could there be a winning scratch card hiding in your Christmas decorations, tucked inside a greeting card, or buried in that festive clutter?

“If you received or purchased one of our Christmas scratch cards check them now, as you could be sitting on an incredible prize," said Mr O'Dwyer.

“The deadline to claim is April 3, so don’t miss out! For prizes above €15,000, players should contact our prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie to arrange collection at Lotto HQ.”
