Miniature World will be held at the Marina Market on March 9. This event, which has run successfully in Galway for the past few years, will benefit Cork charity Brú Columbanus.

A Miniature World charity event is coming to Cork on March 9 at the Marina Market.

Being run in support of Wilton-based charity Brú Columbanus, Miniature World will showcase the hobby of collecting die cast models, toys, and Lego and the art of building dioramas and displays.

This new event will provide an ideal opportunity for long established and up-and-coming collectors to display their collections to the public, with many showing them for the first occasion ever in Cork city.

Miniature World showcases displays of interest to all ages and includes a range of traders. It is a great showcase of an ever-popular hobby and offers an opportunity to get involved in a pastime that is not online or involves hours of screen time.

“We are delighted to be running Miniature World in Cork this year,” said event organiser Thomas Heavey.

“After a social visit to the Marina Market last August, I felt we needed to showcase Miniature World to the south of the country, and the venue is ideal.

“Having started and successfully hosted Miniature World in Galway since 2019, it’s now time to expand and bring it to a wider audience, and we are really excited to meet lots of Cork-based modellers and exhibitors on March 9.”

The event organisers have also confirmed that the chosen charity to benefit from the event is Brú Columbanus. Based in Wilton, the organisation provides a home from home for people while their loved ones are staying in hospital in the city.

Mr Heavey and his family benefited greatly from this service in 2021 and 2022, when his daughter was staying in Cork University Hospital.

“We are just delighted to be able to give something back for the most amazing services that Brú Columbanus provide to so many people,” he said.
