A spokesperson has as asked people to avoid the area between Forge Hill and the Cork Airport roundabout Airport due to 'severe traffic disruption'.

Cork City Fire Brigade are dealing with a significant oil spill on the road between Forge Hill to the Cork Airport roundabout.

Cork City Fire Brigade are this afternoon dealing with a significant oil spill on the road between Forge Hill to the Airport roundabout.

Speaking to The Echo, a spokesperson for Cork City Fire Brigade confirmed that the fire service is currently dealing with the incident and that there are some traffic restrictions in the area.

Victor Shine, second officer at Cork City Fire Brigade, added that investigations are ongoing in relation to the cause of the oil spill. 

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have been notified and the City Council Environmental Department has also been informed.

In an earlier statement on social media at 2.27pm this afternoon, the Cork City Fire Brigade said:

“Cork city Fire Brigade are currently dealing with a significant oil spill in the location of Forge Hill to the Airport roundabout, we are asking the public to avoid the general area due to severe traffic disruption.”
