Cork hotels strike gold at national hospitality awards

Cork’s Hayfield Manor hotel is the supreme winner of the 2024 Virgin Media Business Gold Medal Awards, with nine other local establishments recognised.

Now in it’s 35th year, the annual Virgin Media Business Gold Medal Awards are the leading independent awards programme for the Irish hospitality industry.

Judged by industry experts, the competition recognises and rewards excellence in hospitality and catering.

The winners were announced last week at a gala awards ceremony hosted by Anton Savage at The Galmont Hotel & Spa in Galway.

Worthy

The judging panel chose the candidates they believed to be worthy of a gold medal, which included five hotels across Cork.

Hayfield Manor won the overall supreme winner title and a gold medal in the ‘five-star hotel category’; Hotel Isaacs Cork won the gold medal in the ‘three-star hotel category’; The Blue Haven Hotel won the gold medal in the ‘fine-dining hotel restaurant’ category; Cork’s Vienna Woods Hotel won the gold medal in the ‘grand wedding hotel category’, and The Kingsley Hotel won a gold medal in the ‘outstanding customer-service award’ category.

Hayfield Manor also received a silver medal in the ‘five-star hotel casual- dining experience’ category, and The Blue Haven Hotel also received a bronze medal in the ‘boutique hotel of the year’ category.

Also recognised in Cork was the Clonakilty Park Hotel, which received a silver medal in the ‘family friendly hotel’ category; Ballymaloe House Hotel, which received a silver medal in the ‘menu provenance award’ category; The Dean Cork, which received a silver medal in the ‘city hotel’ category; and The Montenotte Hotel, which received a bronze medal in the ‘guest experience’ category.

The Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa received a bronze medal in the ‘menu provenance award’ category.
