All About Cork: Harp Bar hosts concert in aid of Cork Penny Dinners

Ballyphehane hosted a charity concert last weekend to raise funds for Cork Penny Dinners.

The concert took place on Sunday, February 3 at 3pm in the Harp Bar, Ballyphehane.

The bar, on Pouladuff Road, is known for hosting events in aid of local clubs, organisations, and charities.

Taking part were Colm Walsh vocalist, Julian Harper, and Colm Petit violinist, Stevie McCabe Uileann pipes, and Jim Bailey vocalist.

Also performing were Laura Carey and Lottie O’Driscoll. Lottie was a guest artist at the Lord Mayor’s Concert in City Hall.

Mr Bailey also thanked those who supported the event and all the artists for giving their time free of charge to provide “a most enjoyable afternoon of entertainment”.

He also praised the work of Cork Penny Dinners and Caitríona Twomey, who runs the charity. “I am aware of some of the people who were helped by Catriona recently, especially on Christmas Day,” he said.

Penny Dinners serves 1,300 hot lunches on a daily to those in need. Mr Bailey thanked the Harp Bar and its staff and revealed plans to host a similar event later in the year.
