Former Cork TD and Tánaiste Simon Coveney has been appointed as a non-executive director of the Irish engineering and automation solutions company Reliance.

With a workforce of 53 people, Reliance has witnessed double digit growth in each of the last five years, while also having a significant footprint in Cork, Dublin, Limerick and Antrim. 

The company also operates a new state-of-the-art facility in Dublin which houses a robotics and automation technologies hub.

Announcing the appointment, the company said Mr Coveney's "strategic insights and leadership skills are expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing growth and success of the company".

Mr Coveney said he is honoured to join the company during a "milestone year".
