Tailte Éireann announced the launch of two cutting-edge surveying aircraft as part of a partnership with the Cork-based Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA). Tailte Éireann has announced the launch of two cutting edge surveying aircraft as part of a partnership with the Cork - based Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA).

The new aircraft will be equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology.

This will include the Leica TerrainMapper-2 and CityMapper-2 aerial mounted sensors, which will significantly enhance mapping capabilities.

Tailte Éireann will also be able to accurately identify changes in the landscape courtesy of this advanced equipment, while also ensuring that national mapping efforts will remain current and accurately reflective of the ever-evolving environment.

Excitement

The recently held launch event was attended by the Lord Mayor of Cork and the Mayor of the County of Cork, who both echoed the excitement surrounding this significant technological advancement and the investment in a Cork-based company.

Liam O’Sullivan, CEO of Tailte Éireann, discussing the importance of this advancement, said: “The implications of this advancement are vast.

“The improved accuracy and speed in data collection will serve the entire country, from developers and planners to environmental authorities and citizens.”

Mark Casey, CEO of AFTA, added: “This marks a defining moment for both AFTA and Tailte Éireann.

Founded in 1995, AFTA is a leading European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved flight training organisation based in Cork and Waterford in Ireland.
