Cork Airport is to welcome 33,000 passengers over the St Brigid’s bank holiday weekend on February 1.
Passenger traffic is also forecast to be 10% higher than it was for the same bank holiday weekend of 2024.
The St Brigid’s weekend provides the opportunity for passengers to escape to warmer and sunnier destinations served direct from Cork Airport. There has been strong demand for flights to southern Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands during January.
Ski destinations are also proving popular with passengers departing Cork Airport, with direct connections to Munich, Lyon, and Salzburg.
Cork Airport are also expecting to welcome numerous visitors from across Europe this weekend.
Niall MacCarthy, managing director at Cork Airport, said: “At this time of year, with the dark evenings and inclement weather, many of us start planning our next sun break.
“In addition to the wide selection of routes to choose from already, this summer, passengers can also look forward to five new and exciting routes from Cork Airport to Bilbao, Bordeaux, Izmir, Corfu, and Dalaman.
“We invite people to experience the ease, convenience, and friendliness of Cork Airport as you count down the days to your next ‘get away from it all’ break.
“We also look forward to an early influx of visitors into the region this weekend.”
Passengers are advised to arrive 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time for a flight.
With a busy weekend ahead anticipated at Cork Airport, it is recommended that passengers book car parking in advance.
