Woman taken to hospital after hit-and-run incident in Cork city this morning

A female pedestrian in her 30s is receiving treatment at Cork University Hospital after being knocked down in Cork city this morning.

The incident occurred on the North Ring Road at Ballyvolane, close to the junction of the filling station and Dunnes Stores. 

The driver of the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic incident involving a car and a pedestrian, that occurred at the North Ring Road, Cork City, on Monday 20th January 2025, at approximately 7.05am.

"The driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.

"The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 30s, was conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

"The scene is currently preserved for technical examination.

"Investigations are ongoing.

"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling in the area between 6.40am and 7.10am this morning, Monday 20th January 2025, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Mayfield Garda Station on 021 455 8510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
