Popular Cork city pub to temporarily close for renovations

Tom Barry's announced via social media that the venue will be undergoing "essential remedial works" from January 20.

A popular pub in Cork city centre is due to temporarily close it’s doors from tomorrow.

Renowned for it’s combined pizza and pints offering, Tom Barry’s on Barrack Street announced via social media on Friday that the venue will close for ten days due to “essential remedial works.”

These works will begin at the pub from January 20 and will see the venue closed until January 30.

The team at Tom Barry’s thanked it's customers for their understanding and said they are looking forward to seeing patrons again soon.

Having been a staple location amongst Cork’s pub-scene since the 1960s, the venue, previously known as The Caheragh Bar, became Tom Barry’s in the 1980s, when Tom Barry took over the establishment from the Dineen family.

Mr Barry was the grandson of the venue’s previous owners, and managed the pub for 30 years, building it up to what it is today.

For up-to-date information on when Tom Barry’s will re-open to the public, announcements will be made via the venue’s social media accounts.
