Gardaí preparing files for coroner following separate deaths of two males in Cork city
The bodies of the two males were taken to Cork University Hospital where post-mortems will be undertaken.
Gardaí are preparing files for the coroner and the HSE are monitoring the situation following the separate discoveries of two bodies in Cork city on Friday.
In a statement the Garda press office said gardaí from the Bridewell station were alerted after a male in his late 20s was found in an unresponsive condition in Fitzgerald’s Park shortly before 9am.
“He was pronounced dead a short time later and his body was removed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital,” read the statement.
Gardaí from the Bridewell station were subsequently alerted to the sudden death of a male in in 30s who was found at Kyrls Quay shortly before 3pm on Friday afternoon.

Gardaí said the coroner has been notified and post-mortems will be undertaken on both bodies.
The statement said that files in relation to both deaths will be prepared for the coroner.
Concerns have been raised locally that drug overdoses may have played a role in the deaths.
A HSE spokesperson told they work with national services to review drug trends.
“Communications are issued when extra risky batches are identified on the market. Local services in Cork will support service users during the weekend and will work with the HSE to monitor the market to identify if extra risky substances are circulating,” they added.
“At this moment in time, the HSE has no information to indicate that concern is emerging on the Cork heroin market or that new batches are in circulation,” said the spokesperson.
