Motorists advised of 'extremely busy' traffic following collision in Cork city

Gardaí have said an investigation is ongoing following a multi-vehicle collision on the N40 this morning.
Gardaí attended the scene of an eight car collision on the N40 South Ring Road earlier today.
"The incident occurred at approximately 7:30am traveling from Mahon Point towards the Kinsale Road Roundabout Westbound," a garda spokesperson said, saying ambulance crews attended the scene "as a precaution".
"The investigation is ongoing," the spokesperson said.
The incident at junction nine on the N40 has been cleared.

A garda spokesperson told that drivers should avoid the area if possible.
"Motorists should avoid the area, if possible," they said.
"As this is an ongoing incident, no further information is available at this time."
