Cork Olympian Nicola Tuthill will feature in this week’s edition of RTÉ’s Ear to the Ground. Ms Tuthill, who was the youngest competitor to take part in the hammer throw event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, will be seen tutoring journalist Stephen Robb on the ways of the sport, while also discussing her experiences over the last year.
At just 20-years-old, Ms Tuthill took to the Olympic Games with delight, and with that milestone now behind her, she enjoys spending her free time working on the family farm in Kilbrittain alongside her father, Norman.
In the episode, Mr Robb will visit the Tuthill farm and try his hand at using Nicola’s at-home purpose-built hammer cage and throwing circle.
Also this week, journalist Darragh McCullough will visit a farm in Meath, where farmer Paddy Mangan will describe why he is giving away more than 100,000 trees; then journalist Ella McSweeney will spend a day at the Roscommon Mart to see off another farmer’s pedigree Charollais sheep flock following recent family pressures.
The episode will air on RTÉ One on Thursday at 7pm, and will be repeated on Sunday at 1.10pm.
