The Ireland Funds network has announced that grants of €50,000 will be distributed between two Cork organisations.

Barnardos and Nasc will each receive €25,000.

“This grant round reflects The Ireland Funds’ commitment to helping those facing extraordinary challenges,” Caitriona Fottrell, president and CEO of The Ireland Funds, said.

“Through philanthropy, we bridge resource gaps, partnering with exceptional organisations to address the critical needs of people living in difficult situations.

“We are deeply appreciative of our donors, whose generosity makes this response possible.”

The funding will support Barnardos’ service in Knocknaheeny, which helps vulnerable children under the age of five to build self-esteem, meet developmental milestones, and become school-ready through educational programmes, trauma-informed emotional-regulation, and tailored support for parents.

Barnardos also provides meals, food hampers, and vouchers, and connections to essential services like healthcare and speech therapy.

Nasc, the Irish immigrant support centre, is a Cork city-based organisation that advocates for the rights and welfare of migrants and refugees. The €25,000 will support 30 refugee families in Ireland with their immediate needs and help facilitate their integration.

Part of its Heart of the Community Fund, the grants highlight the desire of The Ireland Funds to address urgent needs in the community.

The grants are strategically allocated as a quick response at a time of year when the challenges faced by those experiencing hardship are amplified.
