Mayfield musician begins European tour

A up-and-coming Cork singer-songwriter is about to embark on a six-week tour of northern Europe with American progressive rock legend Geoff Tate.

For the past few years, Mayfield’s rising star James Keegan has been entertaining audiences all over Ireland with his soulful melodies and captivating storytelling.

Now the iTunes chart-topper is set to reach new audiences during a six-week tour across Scandanavia, Germany, Holland, Slovakia and Estonia, opening for the former Queensrÿche frontman.

“I met Geoff in Germany, while travelling to play with Cork-based band Fire and Water, consisting of Tomás McCarthy and Clodagh McCarthy,” he told The Echo.

A few weeks later, just before his Cyprus Avenue gig in April, he got the call to join the tour.

“I’m really looking forward to heading away on tour for the first time,” he said.

The young northsider also has a new single due out on Friday, January 24, ahead of his new EP, which will be out in June.
