One of the longest-standing fundraisers in Ireland, the Goal Mile, returns this festive season with a number of events around Cork.

The Goal Mile, which is supported by AIB, is held throughout December and New Year’s Day in villages, towns, and cities throughout the world.

Tens of thousands of people will run or walk a mile to raise funds for the aid charity Goal and the Goal Mile has become a Christmas tradition for many Irish families over the years.

There will be Goal Mile events on Christmas Day in Doneraile Park at 10am, St Catherine’s GAA in Ballynoe at 10.30am, and in MTU Bishopstown at 10:30am, with an event in Blarney GAA on December 22 at 9:30am.

On St Stephen’s Day, there will be an event in Glounthaune, starting at midday.

On December 27, there will be a Goal Mile event in Glanmire Community College at 10.15am.

There is also an event on the December 28 in Cloyne GAA club at 11am.

Goal is active in 15 countries, helping people whose lives and livelihoods have been shattered by conflict, disease, and climate change.

All of the Goal Mile events are run by a network of individual and community organisers worldwide.

Pre-event registration is encouraged to secure a 2024 Goal Mile running shirt, but all are welcome to join their local Goal Mile on the day.
