Barry Tierney.

Kinsale musician Barry Tierney will play in his hometown this weekend, as his second album Colours on Canvas is released.

After the success of his critically-acclaimed first album Hotel Alamar 10 years ago, his second effort, produced by Conor O’Sullivan and published by Universal Music, has been four years in the making.

A multi-international award winning singer/songwriter, Barry’s unique singing voice and writing style are distinctly Irish and have gained him fans at home and abroad.

Barry has been presented with songwriting awards by such names as Robin Gibbs of The Bee Gees and Bob Geldof of the Boomtown Rats as well as the arts minister at the time of winning the IMRO-sponsored Sean McCarthy writing festival award.

All album sales on the night will be donated to the Unicef appeal in aid of Gaza, and Barry has offered to match this figure and donate 100% of the total to the worthy cause.

During this two-hour concert at St Multose Church on Friday, December 20, Barry will be joined by Meadhbh Walsh, an emerging star from North Cork, who has already captivated audiences with her blend of Irish folk and original music.

Another Irish star who will perform on the night is George Murphy, a singer-songwriter from Dublin.

Tickets are in very limited supply and can be purchased by calling 083-8737084 or online at Eventbrite.

At the same venue on Saturday, December 21, the Christmas in Kinsale concert returns for its third year, brought to the stage by Anglo Irish Productions.

This two-hour show promises to be an unforgettable experience.

Back by popular demand and in a much-loved local venue, this production is a cherished holiday tradition for families and friends of all ages.

The show is a celebration of Irish culture, featuring a blend of traditional Irish songs and mesmerising dance performances by world champion Irish dancers.
