The man in his 40s was taken to the Cork University Hospital after being found in an unresponsive state in Clonakilty on Wednesday morning.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances behind the discovery of a man with serious and unexplained injuries in Clonakilty town on Weednesday morning. 

Gardaí are appealing to the public for information following the discovery of a man with serious injuries in Clonakilty on Wednesday, November 27. 

At approximately 10.30am, gardaí and emergency services were alerted after a man in his 40s was found unresponsive with unexplained injuries on Inchydoney Road on the outskirts of the West Cork town. 

He was subsequently brought to Cork University Hospital for treatment. His condition is understood to be critical.

Gardaí are investigating the incident and appealing to witnesses. 

They are particularly interested in dashcam or mobile phone footage from the Youghals area of Inchydoney Road between Friday, November 22  and Wednesday morning, November 27.
