'He just stopped coming home': Case of Cork man missing since 1992 to feature on Crimecall

Cork man Patrick 'Patsy' O'Sullivan, who disappeared from Mallow in 1992.

Gardaí are seeking assistance from the public in tracing the whereabouts of Cork man, Patrick ‘Patsy’ O’Sullivan.

Patsy was last seen by his family in the Mallow area in 1992, after returning home for a short visit from county Kerry.

On tonight’s episode of RTÉ’s Crimecall, Patsy’s siblings, Eugene and Jerry O’Sullivan will speak to show host, Carla O’Brien, for the first time about their missing brother, and how the family have waited for more than 30 years for answers.

Recounting the family’s pain, Eugene said: “Not hearing from him for that amount of time, it’s just heartbreaking.”

At the time of his disappearance, Patsy was living in the Killarney area, working in restaurants and kitchens and sometimes travelled to other areas of Kerry for work.

When the family did not hear from Patsy, they began searching for him, looking around the cities of Killarney, Cork and Waterford.

Unfortunately for the O’Sullivan family, they never saw Patsy again, with Jerry saying: “he just stopped coming home.”

Patsy was the middle child of seven siblings and grew up in Lombardstown, just outside Mallow.

Speaking about their brother, Jerry recalls his “heart of gold” while Eugene talks about how Patsy “enjoyed his life to the full.”

Since 2015, Garda PJ Roche has been working on Patsy’s missing person case.

Mr Roche said: “It's 32 years now since Patsy went missing.

“We're hoping that anyone who might have known or worked with Patsy at the time, [who] might have any information that might help in this investigation, [will come forward].”

Despite numerous checks with all the regular governmental bodies, there has been no sign of Patsy since 1992.

DNA database checks and requests for help from Interpol have also proven fruitless in locating Patsy.

Now, the family are making a public appeal for information via RTÉ’s Crimecall.

At the time he went missing, Patsy was 35-years-old, approximately 5’10” in height, of slim build with fair/brown hair and green eyes.

Patsy would now be 67-years-old.

Anyone with information on Patsy’s whereabouts is asked to contact Gardaí in Mallow on 022 314 50 the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Tonight’s episode of Crimecall will air on RTÉ One from 9.35pm.
