The popular Perry St Market Café has shared the news that it has closed all three of its Cork locations, due to “unprecedented challenges” in the hospitality industry.

The café, which served breakfast, lunch and desserts, opened over a decade ago in Perry St in the city centre, and has also opened locations in Ringaskiddy and Grange.

Writing on social media, owners Brian Drinan and Paul Coffey said, “It is with deep regret that we announce the immediate closure of all three Perry St Market Cafe locations.

“The hospitality industry has faced unprecedented challenges in recent years, and these difficulties continue to intensify.”

They added: “Reflecting on the many good years, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited our restaurants.

“We have had the privilege of serving wonderful customers, watching families grow and sharing countless memorable moments with our community.”

They thanked their “fantastic team,” saying they were “truly the face of Perry St,” and adding, “Your dedication and warmth have been invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you’ve done.

“This decision was not made lightly, and we are genuinely heartbroken to reach this point,” they said.

The ongoing challenges in the hospitality industry have seen several beloved food businesses in the city close over the last year, including Nash 19, Tung Sing, Church Lane, Pigalle and White Rabbit BBQ.

Repeated calls by the hospitality industry for the reduction of the VAT rate from 13.5% to 9% were not heeded in the most recent budget.
