A teenager accused of assault causing harm to another young man at the Leisureplex Complex on MacCurtain St signed a plea of guilty to his part in the attack yesterday.
Michael Hogan, aged 19, of 60 Liffey Park, Mayfield, Cork, appeared at Cork District Court where he was represented by solicitor Frank Buttimer.
The solicitor indicated that Mr Hogan was prepared to enter a signed plea of guilty to the charge of assault causing harm to the young man.
On the application of Sergeant John Kelleher, Judge Mary Dorgan sent the case forward for sentencing at the sessions of Cork Circuit Criminal Court commencing on October 29.
Details of the assault involving two assailants were previously outlined in court by Detective Sergeant Kieran O’Sullivan.
“At 3pm on March 3, the injured party was in Leisureplex, MacCurtain St, with his girlfriend,” Det Sgt O’Sullivan said.
“Two people approached and attacked him without provocation.
“He sustained a laceration to his left eye and stab wounds to his back.
“A small kitchen blade was discarded at the scene.”
No details were given on the particular role played by each of the two assailants.
It is anticipated that a fuller account of the part played by Mr Hogan will be outlined at Cork Circuit Criminal Court at the time of his sentencing hearing.
